A Relatively Inexpensive iPhone could Arrive Sooner Than Anticipated

The budget-friendly Apple iPhone SE has long been a popular option for folks who can't swallow the Apple tax on a new iPhone, yet desire to remain within the iOS sphere. Regrettably, the previous model hasn't seen daylight since almost two years back, stirring curiosity about when Apple's budget iPhones will make a reappearance. As per South Korean news site AjuNews, relayed via TechRadar, the iPhone SE 4 might materialize as early as March 2025.

This projection is predicated on Apple's camera partner, LG Innotek, which is set to commence mass-producing the phone's camera in December. According to the report, LG Innotek is currently conducting tests prior to mass production and typically delivers camera modules approximately three months before a smartphone's launch. Considering this schedule, a March 2025 unveiling seems plausible.

These expectations correspond with earlier projections from MacRumors, which anticipated the phone's debut in early 2025. As per their guesswork, it will be introduced before the Lunar New Year in January or March, with March being the more probable option, given that the past three iPhone SE models all debuted in March.

We enjoyed the overall performance of the 2022 iPhone SE 3, but lamented the lack of a larger display and more storage at the entry-level cost. Present rumors suggest that the fourth-gen iPhone SE will boast a 6.1-inch OLED display, a significant leap from the 4.7-inch screen on the 2022 model. This expansion in display size can be attributed to the elimination of the home button. The current iPhone SE continues to carry the antiquated touch ID, which is anticipated to be replaced with Face ID, freeing up additional space.

The iPhone SE 4 will switch from Lightning to Type-C charging, in compliance with the EU’s requirement. As for the cost, rumors hint at a slight price increase, from $430 for the iPhone SE 3 to under $500 for the fourth generation, presumably due to inflation and higher material and production expenses.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for an enhanced night mode in the upcoming iPhone SE. The only solid information we have about the camera so far is that it will upgrade from 12MP on the SE 3 to 48MP on the fourth-gen and will feature a single-lens rear camera array this time around. Furthermore, rumors suggest that the phone will receive Apple Intelligence support, which should be thrilling since the feature is currently exclusive to Apple's latest, premium smartphones.

The anticipation for the iPhone SE 4's release in March 2025 is fueled by the forecasted mass-production of its camera by Apple's partner, LG Innotek. In the future, the budget iPhone might incorporate Apple Intelligence, a feature currently exclusive to Apple's premium smartphones, enhancing its capabilities.
