Affordable Mobile Electric Vehicle Charging Unit Now Sells for Less Than $100,000 in California Due to Incentives

Xos Hub: Revolutionizing Mobile Charging for Off-Road Fleets

The Xos Hub, a groundbreaking mobile charging unit, is making waves in the industry with its lower cost that is challenging traditional obstacles to fleet electrification and charging. According to Aldan Shank, Director of Mobile Charging at Xos, this development is set to change the game for off-road fleet operators.

The Xos Hub is now available for fleet customers at a cost below $100,000 per unit, making it an affordable solution for many. With this reduced price, high-capacity, fast charging becomes more accessible than ever before.

Equipped with 282 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of onboard energy storage and four integrated DC fast chargers, the Xos Hub provides rapid charging without the need for permanent infrastructure or major utility upgrades. This feature makes it ideal for rapid deployment in various environments such as seaports, airports, construction zones, retail or logistics facilities, and for powering electric forklifts in cargo operations.

The cost efficiency of the Xos Hub is further enhanced by its approval under California’s Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Incentive Project. This approval means that the unit can be acquired for under $100,000, with the CORE incentive offering $110,000 off the unit.

The Xos Hub's energy storage and charging capacity allow it to support multiple vehicle chargers simultaneously, ensuring high utilization and flexibility. Its portable design and lack of need for permanent infrastructure installation or utility upgrades make it suitable for rapid deployment in diverse settings.

Industries and sectors that have already benefited from the Xos Hub include large fleets and utilities like Caltrans, Duke Energy, Xcel Energy, TECO Energy, and Highland Fleets. Off-highway and industrial settings such as seaports, airports, construction zones, and logistics facilities have also found the Xos Hub to be a valuable addition.

In summary, the Xos Hub offers a cost-effective, energy-dense, and highly flexible mobile charging solution tailored to diverse fleet electrification needs, particularly for operators requiring fast deployment and charging capability in locations with limited grid access. With its lower cost and advanced features, the Xos Hub is set to accelerate fleet electrification, as stated by Aldan Shank.
