AI advancements lionized in Indian GCCs, signifying their ascent as visionaries in AI innovation.

The transformation of Indian Global Capability Centers (GCCs) into global hubs for artificial intelligence (AI) innovation is gaining momentum. With over 1,800 GCCs operating in the country, nearly two million professionals are now working in these centres, driving significant change in the real world.

One of the key factors driving this transformation is the integration of AI and intelligent automation. Indian GCCs are increasingly embedding AI-driven decision-making, automation of repetitive tasks, predictive analytics, and AI-augmented product development to optimize global operations, accelerate innovation, and improve customer experience.

India’s rich talent pool skilled in AI, machine learning (ML), and data science is another crucial factor. GCCs are investing heavily in AI-fluent upskilling, AI-driven hiring, personalized learning & development platforms, and leadership programs centered on emerging technologies like AI and cybersecurity.

The availability of affordable skilled talent in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, along with government incentives like subsidies, tax exemptions, and grants to set up CoEs, encourages GCC expansion beyond traditional metro hubs, enabling scale and innovation.

Strategic shift and leadership evolution are also playing a significant role. GCCs in India have evolved from cost-focused back offices to strategic innovation units with operational leaders possessing deep technical and functional expertise, driving global transformation, AI efforts, and business outcomes.

Hybrid work setups support talent acquisition and retention, while deeper integration and collaboration with global headquarters align Indian GCCs with enterprise-wide strategic innovation in AI and digital solutions.

This growth in AI innovation has not gone unnoticed by international businesses. Karthikeyan VS, Director & Head of Asia at Expleo, states that Indian GCCs are spurring innovation in AI around the world. Ritesh Sharma, Country Head of SA Technologies, adds that Indian GCCs are envisioning and engineering in a world of AI products.

Pankaj Tripathi, Founder & CEO of Vernost, further emphasizes that Indian GCCs are co-creating AI-driven solutions that power business transformation across various sectors. The Indian government is also playing its part, with initiatives establishing the framework for independent AI infrastructure and innovation governance, and funding AI Centres of Excellence and programs like the IndiaAI Mission.

Decentralization and the availability of talent outside of traditional metro areas are causing smaller GCCs in Tier-2 cities to scale more quickly. Indian GCCs are more frequently owning entire product development cycles and building industry-specific digital platforms.

In conclusion, Indian GCCs are no longer just participating in the AI race; they are leading it. With nearly 90% of India's top-performing GCCs already establishing AI Centres of Excellence, India is rapidly becoming a global hub for artificial intelligence, shaping the next generation of enterprise intelligence and influencing product development, operations, cybersecurity, and sustainability initiatives on a worldwide scale.

Technology and artificial intelligence are integral to the transformation of Indian Global Capability Centers (GCCs) into global hubs for AI innovation. Indian GCCs are investing in AI-fluent upskilling, AI-driven hiring, and creating AI Centers of Excellence, further demonstrating their commitment to leveraging technology and artificial intelligence for global operations, innovation, and customer experience.
