AI Agents Boost Productivity, But Trust Lags: BPM Platforms Offer Solution

A new PwC survey reveals that 66% of senior executives find AI agents delivering measurable value through increased productivity. However, only 27% trust fully autonomous AI agents, as per Capgemini's research. This highlights the need for effective orchestration of AI agents within business processes.

Enter Business Process Management (BPM) platforms, which provide end-to-end process orchestration, agentic orchestration, support for long-running processes, process analytics and optimization, a unified process modeling approach, and flexible architecture. These platforms enable teams to coordinate tasks across AI agents, APIs, enterprise applications, and knowledge workers in a single process flow.

Organizations often keep AI agents siloed to maintain high human control. Yet, AI agents can handle complex knowledge work traditionally done by people, promising efficiency gains, better employee experiences, and faster customer service. Agentic orchestration blends deterministic and dynamic orchestration, allowing AI agents to handle unpredictable paths while deterministic logic governs known, repeatable paths.

Camunda, a process automation platform, offers these capabilities. A paper, 'Camunda Compared to Alternatives', compares Camunda to other solutions that partially deliver these capabilities, including process automation tools, monolithic automation platforms, microservices orchestrators, and more. To succeed with agentic orchestration, a solution should deliver these key features, as highlighted in the paper.

The PwC and Capgemini surveys underscore the potential and challenges of AI agents in business processes. BPM platforms like Camunda offer solutions to these challenges, enabling effective orchestration of AI agents. The 'Camunda Compared to Alternatives' paper is available for download, providing insights into how Camunda stacks up against other solutions.
