In a groundbreaking development, MTS, a leading telecommunications company based in Russia, has introduced the "Proactive Environmental Risk Management System" in Kamchatka Krai, specifically in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This system is designed to monitor environmental risks proactively, using real-time data from sensors and advanced analytics powered by artificial intelligence.

The system is being used to train eco-volunteers and support eco-initiatives from business representatives in the region. It is also helping large enterprises in Kamchatka Krai to implement environmentally safe technologies and develop regenerative economy technologies.

The "Proactive Environmental Risk Management System" is a comprehensive platform that combines Big Data analytics and mathematical calculations. It uses data from measuring equipment, sources of pollutant emissions, and globally significant environmental data for mathematical modeling.

Compact air monitoring posts measure concentrations of gases, particles, temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and direction. These posts are instrumental in detecting potential environmental hazards such as soil instability, vegetation threats, and structural risks.

The system also includes automated mapping of vegetation growth near critical infrastructure, like tree roots and canopies, to identify and mitigate risks to foundations, roads, or pipelines. By continuously monitoring these environmental risk factors and employing AI-driven predictive maintenance and alerts, the system enhances site safety, resilience, and compliance with environmental regulations.

In addition to air quality monitoring, the system also features analytical buoys for water monitoring. These buoys determine the concentration of oxygen, pH, salts, turbidity, oil products, ammonium ion activity, and water level (river flooding). The service predicts negative environmental impact from specific pollution sources 48 hours in advance.

MTS Kamchatka Krai Director, Yevgeniya Salnikova, commented on the importance of protecting natural heritage and integrating AI into environmental management in the region. She emphasized that the integration of AI into this field will further strengthen positions in environmental protection and sustainable development.

MTS has added its own development of the "Proactive Environmental Risk Management System" platform to the Unified Register of Domestic Software. The company is also the first operator to receive a license for soil and water environmental monitoring. The system enables continuous monitoring of the environmental situation, prevention and investigation of environmental violations, and minimization of financial and environmental risks.

The "Proactive Environmental Risk Management System" is a significant step forward in environmental monitoring, combining the latest in AI technology with real-time sensor data to protect ecosystems and infrastructure in Kamchatka Krai. By leveraging AI and sensor networks, the system transforms traditional reactive environmental management into a proactive strategy, ensuring a safer, more sustainable future for the region.
