Alert issued to NINA: New danger zone identified, police offer advice for safety

The NINA warning app, the most popular app in civil protection with over 12 million users, is set to unveil several new features at the Civil Protection Day in Rostock on July 12. These enhancements aim to make the app a more comprehensive companion in dangerous situations.

One of the key additions is an enhanced police notification system. A dedicated section for police warnings will allow users to receive timely safety alerts from federal and state police agencies. These alerts will be easily identifiable through an icon within the app.

Another significant update is the introduction of a new "Themen" (topics) section. This area will include the existing "Notfalltipps" (emergency tips) and a new subsection called "Polizeitipps" (police tips). The "Polizeitipps" section will provide valuable information on criminal prevention, such as crime phenomena, tips for victims of crimes, and practical advice for daily safety. This content will be provided and continuously updated by the Polizeiliche Kriminalprävention der Länder und des Bundes (ProPK) program.

The app's technology has also been optimized to reduce the data required for delivering push notifications in a timely and targeted manner. This enhancement increases the reliability of the app, especially during situations where a large number of warnings need to be sent simultaneously.

The NINA warning app is free to download from popular app stores and serves as a valuable resource for users, warning them about dangers ranging from floods to severe weather, dangerous fires, and special police situations. Visitors can get comprehensive information about the app and help with settings at the BBK stand. Further information about settings and functions can be found on the BBK's website:

As the NINA warning app celebrates its 10-year anniversary this summer, it continues to evolve and better fulfill its purpose as a comprehensive safety companion for millions of users. For more information about the upcoming updates, please visit the BBK's website or download the app from your preferred app store.
