AMD's ROCm 7.0 Update: Enhanced Support for Instinct-MI350 and Boosted Performance in AI Contests
September 12, 2025
In a significant move for the tech industry, AMD has announced the release of ROCm 7.0, a software suite designed to accelerate AI on AMD GPUs. This latest update comes as part of AMD's ongoing commitment to high-performance computing, machine learning, and GPU computing.
ROCm 7.0 offers several key improvements, including faster HIP compiler performance, expanded PyTorch 2.5 support, and optimized BLAS/FFT/comm libraries. The software package primarily targets the data formats MXFP4 and FP8, aiming to enhance AI model performance across various applications.
The Instinct MI350 product family is now fully supported with ROCm 7.0, and the suite includes enterprise deployment features to facilitate seamless integration into business environments. AMD is also providing Prebuilt-Images of ROCm 7.0 for Instinct MI355, MI350, MI325, and MI300 GPUs.
Oracle, Dell, HP, and many other industry leaders are among the first customers of AMD's AI accelerators, demonstrating the growing appeal of AMD's solutions in the AI market.
Under the leadership of Elangovan, AMD's software department is making strides in the field. In some cases, AMD's software department is able to support new AI models faster than Nvidia, a testament to their focus on open source initiatives and developer-friendly solutions.
Elangovan, a key figure in AMD's community, is actively engaged in developer exchange and responds to most requests, regardless of size. Users are encouraged to report any issues they encounter, as the team is eager to improve the user experience.
The current headquarters of AMD ROCm remains in Santa Clara, California, USA, where the company continues to innovate and push the boundaries of what's possible in AI computing.
