Apple debuts fresh coloured Apple Watch bands for Pride celebration

Apple has announced the release of its latest Pride Edition bands and a new Pride watch face for Apple Watch. The new accessories, which include the Pride Edition Sport Loop and the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop, will be available today. To use these new bands, you'll need an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 8.6, and an iPhone 6s or later running iOS 15.5. The bands can be ordered from Apple's website and the Apple Store app starting today, and will be available in Apple Store locations from May 26. The Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop will also be available on nike.com. The Pride Edition Sport Loop and Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop are priced at $49 (US). The Pride Edition bands are designed to represent the strength and mutual support of the LGBTQ+ movement. The Pride Edition Sport Loop showcases a color gradient with the word 'news' woven directly into the band, while the Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop features a matching rainbow-colored Nike Bounce face. Both bands are compatible with any Apple Watch. Inspired by the original 'hello' greeting on the first Macintosh in 1984, the Pride Edition Sport Loop design incorporates various pride flags, including light blue, pink, and white, representing transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals, and black and brown, symbolizing Black and Latinx communities. The colors also represent those who are living with or have passed away from HIV/AIDS. The Pride Threads Watch Face, which combines colors inspired by multiple pride flags, will also be available. This watch face features vibrant threads that move as the Digital Crown on Apple Watch is rotated, the display is tapped, or the user's wrist is raised. Apple is including new App Clip functionality within the band packaging to deliver a simple and convenient way for customers to immediately access the new matching watch face. In addition to the new Pride Edition bands and watch face, Apple is launching a new Shot on iPhone news campaign on Instagram. This campaign will capture the essence of artists and figures within the global LGBTQ+ community, showcasing imagery from an illustrious group of intersectional creatives, celebrating present-day queer pioneers in places of historic significance to the LGBTQ+ movement. Apple is also supporting various LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, including The Trevor Project, Equality Federation Institute, Equality North Carolina, Equality Texas, Gender Spectrum, GLSEN, Human Rights Campaign, ILGA World, The National Center for Transgender Equality, PFLAG, and SMYAL. The company's support for the global LGBTQ+ community and equality movement is evident in these new releases.
