Apple's Live Translation Now Available, Breaking Language Barriers
Apple has introduced Live Translation, a new feature that enables real-time language conversion across iMessage, FaceTime, and phone calls. This innovative tool is now available on AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and iPhone 15 Pro, running iOS 26 or later.
Live Translation, launched on September 15th, 2025, is currently in beta mode. Users can activate it on their AirPods by downloading languages ahead of time and using Siri or pressing the AirPod stems. Some users have reported translation discrepancies and slower conversation progress, indicating room for improvement.
The feature translates speech and text to a target language in real-time, making communication while abroad easier. Currently, it supports English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese. Apple plans to add Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Mandarin Chinese, and Traditional Mandarin Chinese by the end of the year.
Live Translation is a significant step towards breaking down language barriers. With its initial rollout on recent Apple devices, it promises to enhance global communication. As the feature continues to develop and more languages are added, its potential to transform international interactions grows.
