Apple's upcoming iPhone Fold might boast the biggest iPhone display yet, yet may trail behind Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 in terms of screen size.

Apple is set to expand its smartphone lineup with the introduction of a foldable iPhone, tentatively named the iPhone Fold. According to rumours, multiple new models of this innovative device are expected to hit the market in 2023, with the iPhone Fold leading the charge.

The forthcoming iPhone Fold is expected to be powered by Apple's A20 chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process. This advancement promises a 15% speed boost and a 30% improvement in efficiency compared to the A19 chip, making for a smoother and more efficient user experience.

The device is rumoured to feature dual 48-megapixel cameras for the rear setup, with a main lens and an ultra-wide lens, but no telephoto lens. An under-display camera for the inner display and a hole punch-style front-facing camera for the outer display when folded have also been mentioned.

Apple is reportedly using liquid metal (amorphous metal) for the hinge, making it more resistant to bending and deformation, potentially minimising the display crease. The body of the foldable iPhone is rumoured to be made of titanium alloy, contributing to its durability and premium feel.

Details about the battery size and capacity, as well as the price, have yet to be confirmed by Apple. However, leaks suggest the device could retail at around $2,000, positioning it as a premium offering. The official release date is rumoured to be in fall 2026, with mass production planned for the second half of that year.

Samsung is said to be working on the displays for the foldable iPhone, aiming to create a completely crease-free display. Samsung has reportedly solved the crease issue to Apple's satisfaction, ensuring stable mass production of the foldable iPhone in 2026.

Compared to other foldable devices on the market, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the OnePlus Open, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the foldable iPhone is predicted to have a smaller internal and external display. Apple supply chain Ming-Chi Kuo has given similar measurements for the foldable iPhone, predicting it to be between 9 and 9.5mm thick when folded and between 4 and 4.5mm when opened.

As for other features like improved selfie camera upgrades, these are not specifically mentioned for the foldable model but are being considered for other iPhone models like the iPhone 17 series.

Apple is rumoured to release 6 new iPhone models, including the foldable iPhone, starting next year. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of smartphones.

Technology enthusiasts are anticipating Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Fold, set to debut powered by the A20 chip. This device is expected to boast dual smartphone cameras and advanced displays, possibly making it a formidable competitor against other gadgets like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, OnePlus Open, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
