Foton, a global automotive brand known for its commercial vehicles, is expanding its dealer network across Australia in preparation for the launch of its new offering - the Foton Tunland hybrid ute. The vehicle is set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2025, with a starting price of $39,990 plus on-road costs.

The Tunland will be available in two grades: the V7 and V9. The V7, designed for durability and payload capacity, caters to fleet and trade buyers. It comes in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants, with the latter offering selectable drive modes and a locking rear differential. The V9, on the other hand, is more comfort-oriented, featuring multi-link rear suspension and additional refinement features.

Key features of the Foton Tunland include a 2.0-litre Aucan turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology, producing 120 kW and 450 Nm of torque. The transmission is a ZF 8-speed automatic, and the vehicle is offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains. The Tunland boasts a braked towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg.

The interior of the Tunland is equipped with a 14.6-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety features include a suite of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The vehicle also offers a ground clearance of 240 mm, an approach angle of 28 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees, making it suitable for off-road capability.

The Foton Tunland is designed to combine commercial-grade durability with SUV-like comfort. It comes with a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, positioning it as a versatile dual-cab utility vehicle that appeals to a broad range of Australian buyers. The Tunland is built with Foton's global truck-building pedigree and is designed to handle both weekday worksites and weekend adventures.

The V9-S 4x4 is the range-topper, offering premium comfort features and front and rear diff locks. The V7-C 4x2 is a value-driven workhorse for fleets and trades, with a payload capacity over 1,000kg. The V7-C 4x4 adds four-wheel drive, rear diff lock, extra drive modes, and enhanced versatility to the Tunland line-up.

The Foton Tunland has undergone extensive local testing on various road conditions, steep inclines, and challenging off-road terrain, ensuring it is ready to take on Australian roads. This new entrant in the Australian Ute market is aimed at drivers seeking a combination of muscle, space, efficiency, and practicality.

With the launch of the all-new hybrid Foton Tunland, Foton Australia is set to make a significant impact in the Australian automotive market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new vehicle.
