The model features audio-generation capabilities, as seen in ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode. GPT-4o has a knowledge cutoff in June 2024, making it more current than its predecessor, GPT-4.5. It is available to all ChatGPT users, with higher usage limits for paid subscribers such as ChatGPT Plus.

The GPT Store, an exciting feature, allows users to share their customized GPT models with others, with builders based in the United States eligible for payments based on usage.

Introduced in September 2024, the o1 family started with the o1-preview and the smaller, cost-efficient o1-mini model. The preview version was replaced by o1 in December 2024, designed to spend more time "thinking" before answering to solve more complex problems. These agents are due for launch in 2025, which could bring ChatGPT closer to achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI).
