Asahi Hit by Ransomware Attack, Operations Disrupted
Asahi, a leading Japanese beverage company, has confirmed a ransomware attack that has disrupted its operations. No ransom demand has been made, and the culprits remain unknown. The attack, which occurred recently, forced Asahi to temporarily halt some domestic news operations in Japan. Despite the setback, the company has started partial manual order processing and shipments. It aims to gradually resume call center operations across its divisions from October 6 onwards. The incident has led to an unauthorized transfer of data from Asahi's servers, potentially including personal information of customers and business partners. The company has swiftly isolated affected systems to prevent further data leakage. It is currently investigating the nature and scope of the stolen information. The attack has also impacted Asahi's product launch schedule. A new product, initially planned for October, has been postponed due to the cyber-attack. No new release date has been confirmed. Asahi is reviewing the potential impact of the incident on its financial results for fiscal year 2025. Meanwhile, investigations into the attack continue, with no ransomware group having claimed responsibility. The company remains committed to safeguarding its data and resuming normal operations as soon as possible.
