Assassin's Creed Infinity: Current Insights and Speculations

Ubisoft has announced the development of Assassin's Creed Infinity, a groundbreaking platform that will connect and link upcoming Assassin's Creed games. The central hub of this platform, known as the Animus Hub, aims to re-establish and streamline the modern-day narrative across the franchise.

Assassin's Creed Infinity, unveiled in July 2021, is a collaboration between multiple internal studios at Ubisoft. The platform will house multiple future games, such as Assassin's Creed: Codename Red and Codename Hexe, allowing them to coexist on this unified platform.

The Animus Hub is not a separate launcher but rather a feature embedded within new titles starting with Assassin's Creed Shadows and later games, as well as select previous titles from "period two" of the series. This integration aims to create a cohesive, ongoing experience across different titles and historical settings.

Marc-Alexis Cote, who has worked on Brotherhood and Syndicate, has become the executive producer of the entire Assassin's Creed series. Clint Hocking, known for Splinter Cell and Watch Dogs Legion, leads a team out of Ubisoft Montreal, working on Assassin's Creed Hexe. Meanwhile, Jonathan Dumont, who worked on Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Odyssey, heads the crew at Ubisoft Quebec, working on Assassin's Creed Red.

Assassin's Creed Infinity will not be free-to-play, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. The games featured in Assassin's Creed Infinity will be priced accordingly and will offer free experiences as well.

In addition to the linked games, Assassin's Creed Infinity will introduce a new multiplayer experience called Project Invictus, developed by veterans of Ubisoft's For Honor series. This multiplayer aspect aims to bring a fresh dynamic to the franchise under this unified platform.

Instead of replacing games with another game, the games in Assassin's Creed Infinity can live for a longer period of time and are being architectured differently than in the past. Assassin's Creed Infinity aims to create a lasting system of support for the Assassin's Creed games, with the goal of supporting everything that comes out on Infinity for a much longer period of time.

Assassin's Creed Infinity is still in early development, and it's unlikely that we'll get our hands on the game for some time yet. However, with its ambitious plans for a connected universe and a unified design philosophy, the future of the Assassin's Creed series looks promising.
