Astro Digital to Buy Power from Star Catcher Network for Satellite Boost
Astro Digital, a space systems and mission support provider since 2015, has announced plans to buy power from Star Catcher Network, a company founded in 2024 by Andrew Rush, Michael Snyder, and Bryan Lyandvert. This innovative partnership aims to boost energy capabilities for satellites like Astro Digital's Corvus XL.
Star Catcher began its journey with a $12.25 seed funding round, followed by an initial ground-based demonstration in March 2023. The company plans to conduct another terrestrial demonstration later this year and an on-orbit test in 2026. The goal is to enable ESPA-class satellites to obtain more power than they could generate independently. Astro Digital will purchase this power to deliver to satellites in orbit, supporting their missions and extending their operational lifespans.
Astro Digital's decision to buy power from Star Catcher Network marks a significant step towards harnessing space-based solar power. This collaboration could revolutionize satellite operations, enabling more capable and longer-lasting missions in orbit.
