Surviving the Creeping Nightmare: A Guide to Elden Ring Nightreign

Attempted Utilization of CustomPlayer Shortcuts in Elden Ring's Nightreign Crater Event, Ending in Lava Immolation Mishap

In the realm of Elden Ring Nightreign, challenges are aplenty, from bosses that can kill with a single shot to maps that wish you ill. And it's not just the storm that's trying to drown you, for at times, the map itself wants you dead. We ain't kiddin'!

Take, for instance, the Shifting Earth events. They start showing up once you take down the first Nightlord Gladius, Beast of Night (Tricephalos). These happenings alter parts of the map in unpredictable ways, which can make your run more perilous depending on the new obstacles you face.

Out of all the Shifting Earth shenanigans, the one that rules them all, if you ask me, is the Crater Event. This bad boy splits the map wide open, creating a lava-filled chasm that'll make your blood boil.

But fear not, brave souls! The prize waiting at the bottom of this fiery pit is a smithing table that lets you turn any weapon into a legendary relic. With the clock ticking, bosses galore, and a raging Magma Wyrm standing between you and your goal, it's a nail-biting endeavor to say the least.

Here's the lowdown for those gaming as Ironyeye. The trusty ol' lunge skill can make things a smidge easier, thanks to the YouTuber eldencafor who shared a shortcut. Just leap off the side of the Church with the Thorn Sorcerers, and if your lunge skill's on cooldown or you got a relic for extra uses, you'll land on solid ground with a few well-timed bounds.

But for the rest of us, who don't pack a lunge and a bow, there's another, dare I say, more dangerous way to descend into the heart of the Crater.

Head to the flight tree at the crater's north side, near the spot where the day two boss usually spawns. Take off with an eagle over the lava pit, and jump when it's almost over land. If you manage to keep tumbling forward, you'll reach the Magma Wyrm boss in one piece.

Now, a word of warning to those considering this route. My mates and I tried it in desperation when we realized there wasn't enough time to clear the Crater traditionally. We barely made it through, and it ain't pretty.

If you overshoot or hit the wrong button, you won't make it past the Black Blade Kindred or plunge headfirst into the molten lava. Your eagle might also drop you into nothingness if you accidentally tap R3. I've seen one of the lads meet a fiery end despite him apparently not touching a thing, which spooked the other guy so much he joined him in the lava pit. So, you know, be careful out there.

The safest Crater skip I've found is the one That-Communication48 shared in the community. This method takes you to the fog wall near the Fire Monks and Fire Prelate. It'll save you time, net you some levels, and give you a weapon as a bonus. So, it's not a total loss in precious seconds, even if I could learn to time my runs better.

Extra Insight:

  • A safe method for bypassing smaller enemies and focusing on the boss seems to be an effective strategy for completing the Crater Event quickly and reducing the risk of danger[1].
  • Similar parkour or stealth routes have been used to skip other challenging areas in Nightreign, implying that the safe Crater skip might involve exploiting terrain features to avoid unwanted combat[2].

[1] Community-shared technique for completing Shifting Earth events safely efficiently (from content analysis).[2] Pertinent strategies for skipping challenging areas in Nightreign (e.g., climbing castle walls or using broken walls) may provide insight into possible parkour or stealth elements in the Crater skip (gathered from related research).

  1. Navigating the Crater Event, a perilous segment in Elden Ring Nightreign, is a high-stakes endeavor, with a boss and a Magma Wyrm standing between players and a smithing table that transforms weapons into legendary relics.
  2. For those gaming as Ironyeye, using the lunge skill can make the Crater Event less arduous, as demonstrated by eldencafor in a shared shortcut.
  3. For others lacking the lunge skill, there's a more risky approach to embarking on the Crater Event: utilize the flight tree at the crater's north side, near the day two boss's usual spawning spot, and journey with an eagle over the lava pit, aware of the potential dangers lurking beneath.
  4. Safeguarding your gaming experience in the Crater Event involves taking a method shared by That-Communication48 in the community, which bypasses smaller enemies and leads players to a fog wall near the Fire Monks and Fire Prelate, potentially netting precious or beneficial rewards.
  5. Exploiting terrain features to bypass unwanted combat, such as climbing castle walls or using broken walls, may be indicative of parkour or stealth elements present in the various Crater skip techniques presently being employed by the Nightreign community.
