In a move to encourage the transition to electric vehicles, Leapmotor UK has launched the LEAP-GRANT scheme, offering UK car buyers up to £3,750 off the brand's electric car range. This self-funded initiative aims to provide immediate savings, helping consumers make the switch to electric motoring.

The scheme applies to Leapmotor's all-electric range, including the C10 family SUV and the T03 5-door city-car. Up to £3,750 will be offered for some models, such as the C10, while £1,500 will be available for the T03.

Pricing examples show that the C10 is now available from £32,750 OTR with the grant applied, while the T03 starts at £14,495 with the £1,500 grant. Financing options include Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) deals with competitive terms, such as 0% APR and affordable monthly payments.

Other car manufacturers are anticipated to align their offerings with the government's new Electric Car Grant initiative, which aims to promote sustainable and affordable electric vehicle options. However, Leapmotor is the first marque to offer a self-funded grant scheme, making it the cheapest electric hatchback on sale in the UK.

Meanwhile, GWM UK has matched Leapmotor's savings, making a £3,750 discount available to everyone, right now, on their Ora 03 range. Toby Marshall, managing director at GWM UK, stated that they do not believe customers should have to wait for the government to decide which vehicles qualify for the EV grant.

Elsewhere, MG has launched a discount of £1,500 on MG4 EV and MGS5 EV models, and Leapmotor has also cut £1,500 from the price of its T03 city car. The new Alfa Romeo EV Grant can be used in addition to existing retail offers, including zero percent PCP finance deals, discounted servicing packages, and free home charging.

While no new information about immediate availability of any brand's electric vehicles was mentioned, it is clear that vehicle manufacturers are offering discounted prices to customers in response to the government's Electric Car Grant. As more brands follow suit, the UK market is set to see a surge in affordable electric vehicle options.
