Autonomous driving service provider Mapbox unveils ADAS L2+ and Autopilot platforms at CES event.

In a groundbreaking move, Mapbox has unveiled MapGPT, an AI navigation assistant, in 2023. This innovation is designed to deliver the future of ADAS L2+ to millions of customers today, not years in the future.

MapGPT is deeply integrated with L2+ driving systems, eliminating the mystery of autopilot driving systems. It informs drivers in plain conversational language about the ADAS system's performance and why it requires assistance. The AI assistant enables two-way communication between the vehicle and driver, even in challenging conditions like construction zones.

One of the key features of MapGPT is its ability to plan appropriate lane-level maneuvers required to navigate the driver from point A to point B. It does this by utilising the Mapbox Autopilot Map, which now includes lane centerlines, boundaries, speed limits, curvature, signs, and daily over-the-air data refreshes. This extension of the map's range and capability extends the capacity of existing L2+ vehicles with over 25 new map data attributes.

Mapbox Autopilot Services provide full hands-free control and clear communication of ADAS driving through plain, conversational voice interactions. It helps drivers understand exactly where and when the autopilot system will make maneuvers or will need the driver's intervention at a glance with precise and detailed 3D maps including traffic signs, lights, trees, bridges, and landmarks.

The latest integrated Autopilot driving experience from Mapbox addresses issues of driver frustration caused by ADAS systems making the wrong maneuvers at forks and highway exits. Mapbox 3D Live Navigation integrates the vehicle's ADAS and drive-control systems directly with detailed lane-level navigation, making the driving experience smarter, safer, and easier to use.

Mapbox Autopilot Services is available through an integrated software stack that can run on a single SOC, reducing complexity, integration, and cost for OEMs. Since 2023, the OEMs that have integrated Mapbox's Autopilot service into their vehicles include Ford and Volvo. The offering from Mapbox enables OEMs to deliver the next generation of ADAS and navigation to millions of customers today, not years in the future.

In conclusion, Mapbox Autopilot Services deliver a safer and more capable ADAS experience that makes it easy for drivers to understand what the car is doing and why. This innovation is the future of ADAS L2+ and is available for vehicles equipped with existing ADAS sensors via an over-the-air update, with no additional hardware required.
