b.r.m. IT & Aerospace to Lead EU's First U-Space Drone Control Center

b.r.m. IT & Aerospace is set to become a certified European control center for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), coordinating flight activities in the 'U-Space'. This comes as the drone market continues to grow, with drones now outpacing airplanes in production numbers.

The new control center will initially operate regionally in northwestern Germany and the German Bight. Its goal is to make organizing drone flights as simple as starting a helicopter, thanks to the new EU regulation that simplifies commercial use and reduces bureaucracy for operators.

The center will ensure the safe coexistence of drones, airplanes, and helicopters. It sees potential in using drones for maintenance in North Sea wind farms. Over 200 stakeholders, including rescue helicopters, Federal Police, and environmental protection associations, are involved in the 'Advanced Air Mobility Initiative Northwest Germany and German Bucht'.
