BAC Unveils World's First Single-Seat Production Road Racer

Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has unveiled the BAC Mono, a groundbreaking single-seat road racer. This is the world's first production sports car designed for one occupant.

The BAC Mono is powered by a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder Cosworth engine, generating 280 bhp. This engine, paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox by Hewland, propels the Mono from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 170 mph.

The Mono's impressive performance is also attributed to its lightweight construction. Weighing only 540 kg, it boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 520 bhp per tonne. This featherweight chassis is built using carbon fibre composite around a steel safety cell, complete with an FIA-compliant steel rollover structure for enhanced safety.

BAC has equipped the Mono with high-performance components. Braking is handled by 295 mm ventilated discs from AP Racing, while Kumho has developed a special tyre compound for optimal grip. The Mono's adjustable pushrod suspension ensures precise handling.

BAC is limiting production of the Mono to just 35 units this year, with 10 already spoken for before the launch. SuperVettura has been designated as the UK dealer for this exclusive racer. The BAC Mono's combination of power, lightweight construction, and advanced components makes it a thrilling addition to the world of single-seater production sports cars.
