Belarus Teacher Tatyana Kriklevskaya Sentenced for Protest Role
Tatyana Kriklevskaya, a 45-year-old special education teacher from Slutsk, has been convicted for her role in protests against the Belarusian government. She was sentenced to probation under Article 342, Part 1 of the Criminal Code for participating in unauthorized public gatherings in Minsk in 2025.
Kriklevskaya, who worked at Minsk's kindergarten No. 549, was involved in protests while advocating for democratic reforms. She was convicted for organizing or actively participating in mass disturbances. Despite her conviction, Kriklevskaya remains known for her dedication to her students. She graduated from the Belarusian State Pedagogical University in 2009 with a degree in inclusive education teaching. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and sharing her culinary adventures on social media. She has also written articles for the kindergarten's website, including a piece on helping children who are slow to speak start talking.
Tatyana Kriklevskaya's conviction has not dampened her spirit. Despite the challenges, she continues to be a passionate educator and a voice for change in Belarus. Her probation sentence allows her to remain in her community, where she continues to inspire her students and fellow activists.
