Bitcoin adoption expands in Switzerland as all savings supermarkets prepare to start accepting the cryptocurrency
In the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies, the integration of digital assets into everyday transactions is becoming increasingly common. This week, several significant developments have taken place, particularly in Switzerland and Germany, where major retailers are embracing cryptocurrencies.
One of the most anticipated developments is the listing of Metamask, a popular wallet for Ethereum tokens, as "Coming Soon" on Open Crypto Pay's website. Open Crypto Pay, an open, license-free standard for P2P crypto payments on all blockchains and with all crypto assets, is making strides in the industry.
Meanwhile, merchants in Switzerland and Germany are set to benefit from Open Crypto Pay's API interface to DFX. DFX, a well-known service provider in the crypto space, offers a seamless integration for merchants to incorporate crypto payments into their cash registers. This means that Bitcoin payments will soon be available in all Spar stores in Switzerland, following successful pilot projects in Zug and Kreuzlingen.
The Spar supermarket in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, has already started accepting Bitcoin payments, thanks to the service provided by Open Crypto Pay from the Swiss crypto broker DFX. The service provider, DFX Swiss, is known for its integration with the Lightning Network and OpenCryptoPay standards, ensuring fast and cost-effective Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency transactions at Spar stores.
The first Spar supermarkets in Germany are now accepting Bitcoin, Monero, and other cryptocurrencies for payments. The Cake Wallet, which supports a vast number of cryptocurrencies, is also listed as a wallet that Open Crypto Pay works with, expanding the list of compatible wallets.
The Swiss Bitcoin Conference took place this weekend in Kreuzlingen on Lake Constance, providing a platform for discussions and insights into the future of cryptocurrencies. The conference underscores the growing interest and adoption of cryptocurrencies in Switzerland, a country that is quickly becoming a hub for crypto-related businesses.
As Open Crypto Pay and DFX continue to expand their partnerships and services, it is clear that the future of cryptocurrency payments is bright. With more retailers embracing digital assets, it won't be long before cryptocurrencies become a standard method of payment across Europe.
