BMW Art Cars Celebrate 50 Years with Global Tour
BMW is marking the 50th anniversary of its iconic Art Car series with a global tour. Starting in Europe and Asia, the exhibition will showcase 20 cars, including masterpieces by renowned artists like Frank Stella and Andy Warhol. The tour, covering 15 countries and five continents, will display the cars at various museums, art fairs, and classic car festivals. The collection's journey began with Alexander Calder's BMW 3.0 CSL in 1975, and it continues with the latest addition, BMW M Hybrid V8 by Julie Mehretu, set to debut at Art Basel in Hong Kong. The BMW Art Car Collection has evolved into international icons, reflecting society, technology, and performance. While the tour schedule is still evolving, it's expected to continue through most of 2026 with further stops planned in various countries. The BMW Museum will also showcase a historical overview of the 3 Series, including M3 Art Cars, starting 16 June 2025. The BMW Art Car series has brought together art and automotive history for five decades. This global tour celebrates that legacy and offers fans a chance to see these iconic cars up close. Although no stops in Australia have been confirmed yet, the tour schedule is still developing, leaving room for potential future visits.
