BMW M Motorsport Unveils 2026 Season Updates for M Hybrid V8
BMW M Motorsport is gearing up for the 2026 season with updates to the M Hybrid V8. The racing division is also exploring future collaborations and considering new opportunities for the prototype racer.
The M Hybrid V8 will sport updated headlights for the upcoming season. BMW M Motorsport has been developing and running the car in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North America for six years, now operating independently for the second consecutive year.
BMW M Motorsport is in discussions with potential partners like WRT and BMW M Team RLL for future projects. The division has also confirmed its long-term commitment to the M Hybrid V8 program.
The M Hybrid V8 will take part in a joint test at the Circuit of the Americas in September 2023. BMW M Motorsport collaborated with Dallara to achieve aero improvements on the car, including a smaller grille and a redesigned front splitter for enhanced aerodynamics and cooling efficiency.
BMW is considering allowing third-party teams to purchase the M Hybrid V8 in the future. However, it's important to note that the M Hybrid V8 is not street-legal and cannot be bought by the general public. It's an LMDh prototype designed to compete in the FIA WEC and IMSA series on various circuits.
The M Hybrid V8 is set for updates and potential new opportunities in the coming seasons. BMW M Motorsport's commitment to the program and exploration of partnerships and third-party purchases indicate an exciting future for the racing division.
