Bose Plans Rebirth of its Most Renowned Audio Devices, Conditions Applied
Bose, the renowned audio equipment manufacturer, has announced the re-release of its iconic 901 Speakers, originally launched in 1968, as a limited edition set. This exclusive release marks Bose's celebration of its 60th anniversary.
The redesigned Bose 901 speakers are a product of a collaboration between Bose, NYC lifestyle brand Kith, and world-famous furniture designer Mark Jupiter. Each set is custom-made, with only 12 units being produced.
The speaker's cabinet is crafted from MDF wood and rests on a beautiful stand, one of the speaker's most iconic parts. The front features a full-range driver, covered with tweed front grills, while the back sports eight additional drivers, hidden behind metal rear grills.
The limited edition Bose 901 speakers have been refurbished in two finishes: white-washed ash wood and natural air-dried walnut. However, it's currently unclear whether a non-limited edition of the speakers will ever be made available for the public.
Bose hasn't revealed much about the 901's specs or pricing. The company's history suggests a trend towards releasing extravagant, limited-edition versions of successful products, such as the diamond-studded Ultra Open Earbuds, priced at $9,000.
The limited edition Bose 901 speakers have generated complaints from customers due to their finite supply. Comments in the Instagram post about the speakers include "This is useless if they only make 12" and "This needs to be a regular production model."
Kith founder Ronnie Fieg has expressed the significance of the Bose 901 Speakers in audio engineering. Previously, Bose collaborated with Kith for the production of the Bose Ultra Open earbuds, another extremely limited edition product.
It's worth noting that the limited edition of the Bose 901 speakers is allocated to specific persons or groups, but the search results do not specify who exactly receives them.
The announcement of the Bose 901 speakers has been made on Instagram, where the excitement and anticipation from the audio community are palpable. Despite the limited availability, the re-release of this iconic product has sparked a renewed interest in Bose's legacy and its commitment to innovation in the field of audio technology.
