BYD will introduce the Sealion 06 SUV model on July 24th.
In just three days, Chinese automaker BYD is set to launch the highly anticipated Sealion 06, a versatile SUV that comes in both electric and hybrid versions. The Sealion 06 is expected to retail for between RMB 160,000 ($22,300) and RMB 200,000, providing an affordable option for environmentally-conscious consumers.
The Sealion 06 Electric Model, a fully electric vehicle (EV), offers two battery pack options with capacities of 65.28 kWh and 78.72 kWh. This EV is equipped with a single motor having a peak power output of 160 kW, delivering estimated range options of 520 km, 550 km, and 605 km.
On the other hand, the Sealion 6 DM-i Hybrid Model combines a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a 1.5-liter Xiaoyun gasoline engine. The electric motor delivers 197 PS and 325 Nm of torque, while the gasoline engine produces 106 PS and 135 Nm. The combined output is 217 PS and 325 Nm. This model uses an 18.3 kWh Blade battery that provides a pure-electric range of approximately 105 km. The combined range, using both electric and gasoline power, is up to 1,100 km.
The Sealion 06 DM-i is equipped with a 18.3-kWh or 26.6-kWh battery pack and will utilize BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. It also features an e-CVT transmission and is configured as a front-wheel drive.
Safety and technology features on both models include advanced safety features like DiPilot ADAS suite, intelligent speed limit control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure assist, and a 360-degree parking camera. Modern conveniences such as LED headlights, wireless phone charging, PM2.5 filtration system, and NFC card key are also included.
All Sealion 06 models will come standard with BYD's God's Eye smart driving system. The electric Sealion 06 EV model is based on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, while the PHEV version of the Sealion 06 features a single motor with a peak power output of 160 kW.
The Sealion 06 measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. The PHEV version of the Sealion 06 is equipped with a 1,498 cc engine with a maximum power output of 74 kW.
The Sealion family has set a record with 34,757 units sold in June, accounting for 9.08 percent of BYD's total NEV sales of 382,585 units. The Sealion 06 is poised to further boost these numbers, offering a compelling blend of affordability, range, and technology.
