Car Model Mercedes-Benz CLA now supports in-car Teams video conferencing during driving.
The collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft is set to revolutionise the way we work on the go, with the new 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA set to become a mobile office. The integration of Microsoft Teams directly into the vehicle's system allows users to join video calls using the car's built-in interior camera, even while driving, with safety-compliant features to minimise distractions.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA, which uses the Mercedes-Benz MB OS operating system, will benefit from the native integration of the Microsoft Meetings for Teams app. This means that users can join Teams video calls seamlessly from the car's infotainment system, powered by MB.OS with the MBUX interface.
The car's built-in camera will be used for video meetings, with the driver being visible to other meeting participants. When the camera activates, shared video content is hidden from the driver's display to focus attention on the road. If the vehicle is moving, the system automatically switches to an audio-only call to comply with safety laws, preventing visual distractions.
Enhanced meeting management features, such as "Next Meetings," quick contact shortcuts, expanded chat functions, and voice-to-text input, streamline communication and make meeting participation easier from the car.
Integration of Microsoft Intune allows for a secure, enterprise-compliant environment. Users can log in with business accounts, separate personal and business data, and IT administrators can manage access rights and security policies centrally, matching the security of mobile devices.
Mercedes-Benz is also working to implement Microsoft 365 Copilot in these vehicles, which will provide AI-generated meeting prep and productivity tools within the car. However, the specific details of how the 365 Copilot AI software will be implemented in future operating systems have not been disclosed.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA's built-in camera allows drivers to participate in Teams meetings while the vehicle is in motion. Drivers will not be able to see video footage of other participants due to road traffic legislation. A new application dashboard shows upcoming 'Next Meetings' and allows access to frequent contacts.
Ola Källenius, chairman of the board of management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, stated that the integration will create an intuitive and safe user experience. The collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft is a separate initiative from the 'go-anywhere car' launched by Mercedes in the past and does not involve the integration of the 365 Copilot AI software into the Vauxhall Mokka GSE or the BTCC rules.
This collaboration turns the Mercedes-Benz CLA into a mobile office that supports live video meetings, secure enterprise workflows, and AI productivity tools, all designed to keep business users connected and productive on the move while prioritising safety and minimising driver distraction.
