CEO Launches Nuwber, Mozilla's Onerep Ties Persist

Dimitri Shelest, CEO and founder of Onerep, has launched Nuwber, a data brokerage selling personal background reports. Meanwhile, Mozilla continues to promote Onerep to Firefox users despite ending their partnership in March 2024. The relationship between these entities remains complex and under scrutiny.

Shelest, while maintaining ownership in Nuwber, insists no crossover occurs with Onerep. However, Onerep's ties with Radaris, another controversial people-search service, raise concerns. Radaris has been promoting Onerep in user emails, while Mozilla continues to feature Onerep through Mozilla Monitor Plus, despite searching for a replacement partner since mid-March.

Mozilla's decision to end its partnership with Onerep came after discovering Shelest's outside financial interests, which they deemed misaligned with their values. However, they assured customers that data was never at risk.

The launch of Nuwber by Dimitri Shelest, coupled with Onerep's ongoing promotion by Mozilla and ties to Radaris, has raised questions about data privacy and potential conflicts of interest. As Mozilla continues its search for a replacement partner, users await clarity on the future of their data protection.
