Vintage Kodak Charmera compact camera boasts under 2 MP, yet it's already out of stock. Enthusiasts can't seem to get enough of the affordable $30 offering.

Compact Kodak camera with a 2MP resolution, now out of stock, sparks fervor among enthusiasts at the $30 price point, christened as the Kodak Charmera.

The Kodak Charmera, a compact cam reminiscent of a keychain, has recently been launched by Kodak themselves, in partnership with RETO Production Limited - one of the companies that licenses the iconic Kodak name.

This charming little camera device, priced at approximately $30 / £30, boasts a 1.6MP 1/4-inch sensor and seven distinct exterior designs, one of which is a clear cam that offers a glimpse into its inner workings. The Charmera also features retro filters, Kodak-inspired frames, and a film border option, paying homage to Kodak's rich photographic history.

The Charmera was inspired by Kodak's 1987 camera, the Kodak Fling. Pre-order quantities for the Charmera have been limited to a single camera or one whole set box of six due to high demand.

For those in the US, retailer B&H offers a stock alert option to notify users once the Charmera is available. However, shipping may be delayed due to the overwhelming interest in this quirky, affordable camera.

Kodak, the company behind the Charmera, began licensing its name to other manufacturers after declaring bankruptcy in 2012. The success of the Charmera will not impact the iconic Eastman Kodak's current struggles. In August, the company shared plans of settling a pension fund to address debts, a move they feel will allow them to end the year with a stronger balance sheet than in previous years.

Hillary K. Grigonis, who leads the US coverage for Digital Camera World and has over a decade of experience writing about cameras and technology, has covered the launch of the Kodak Charmera. Her work has also appeared in Business Insider, Digital Trends, Pocket-lint, Rangefinder, The Phoblographer, and more.

If you're a photography enthusiast looking for a unique, affordable camera, the Kodak Charmera might just be the perfect fit. Keep an eye on Kodak's Instagram page for updates on when the Charmera is back in stock.
