Pocket Knife by CRKT Fused with Mecha Gundam Style, Merging Anime Allure with Everyday Carry (EDC)

CRKT's Anime-styled Pocket Knife embraces the Mecha Gundam Appeal, merging with Everyday Carry (EDC) essentials.

The CRKT Nucleus, an everyday carry (EDC) pocket knife, stands out with its mecha Gundam aesthetic and sharp angular designs that echo the style of Japanese manga and Mobile Suit Gundam robots. This innovative knife combines a futuristic, aggressive look with practical functionality, making it an ideal companion for everyday use.

Manufactured by CRKT in Italy, the Nucleus offers three distinct opening methods: a large thumb slot, a front flipper, and a back flipper. These versatile deployment mechanisms not only make the knife highly functional but also very enjoyable to operate, mimicking the feel of fidget toys.

The Nucleus features a frame lock mechanism concealed seamlessly within its design, enhancing both safety and aesthetics. Additionally, mechanical notching in the backspacer adds to its unique mechanical feel and visual appeal.

Three versions of the Nucleus are available. The basic model comes with a steel blade and a stainless steel handle with a G10 overlay for grip. For those seeking a premium experience, there's the 2025 version, which upgrades the blade steel to MagnaCut, a cutting-edge steel known for exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance. The handle for this model is crafted from lightweight, tough titanium with a carbon fiber overlay.

The Nucleus knives maintain their durability, wear resistance, and resistance against corrosion despite their swift opening and closing design and lightweight nature. Whether you choose the basic model or the premium 2025 version, you'll be carrying a multipurpose blade with a fidget-friendly design.

Princeton Wong, the designer behind the Nucleus, drew inspiration from the mecha genre, characteristic of Japanese Manga, and from nature and pop culture. Wong, who released his first custom knife at the Blade Show in 2018, won the Blade Show award and Most Innovative Design at the International Custom Cutlery Exposition in 2021.

The Nucleus Frame Lock folding EDC pocket knife is available for $300. With its fusion of cutting-edge materials, anime-inspired aggressive design, and versatile deployment mechanisms, the CRKT Nucleus is an innovative, high-end EDC pocket knife that truly reflects its mecha anime roots.

  1. Intrigued by the mecha genre and pop culture, Princeton Wong was inspired to design the innovative Nucleus Frame Lock folding EDC pocket knife as a tribute to Japanese Manga and Mobile Suit Gundam robots.
  2. Smart-home devices and gadgets might not be the first thing that come to mind when considering events that the Nucleus would fit in, but with its fusion of anime-inspired aggressive design, cutting-edge materials, and versatile deployment mechanisms, it could easily stand out as a unique centerpiece or giveaway at tech or pop culture events.
