In the world of cycling, the quest for lightweight and durable components is a constant pursuit. One such component that has gained significant attention is the TPU inner tube, a modern alternative to traditional butyl or latex tubes.

RideNow, a renowned name in the cycling industry, manufactures TPU inner tubes for various disciplines, including BMX, mountain bike, commuting, road, and gravel bikes. However, for those seeking lighter and more durable options, there are several alternatives that have made waves in 2025.

One such option is the Vittoria Ultra Light Speed TPU. In tests, it demonstrated standout ride quality and durability, slightly outperforming Revoloop tubes. Another contender is the Tubolito S-Tubo Road Tube, which weighs a mere 23g, making it ultra-light and ultra-compact. Although it is designed for disc brake wheels and not suitable for rim brakes, it provides good puncture resistance.

TPU tubes, in general, weigh between 20-40g (700×25-28c size), significantly lighter than standard butyl tubes which weigh 90-120g. They maintain puncture resistance comparable or superior to butyl tubes while being more compact and durable, without the fragility or pressure loss issues that latex tubes may have. Furthermore, these tubes do not degrade over time like latex, ensuring reliability when used as spares.

Other notable mentions include the Revo Race Ultra TPU, Schwalbe Aerothan TPU, and Pirelli PZero Smart TPU tube. These tubes offer significant weight savings, improved puncture resistance, and durability, making them top choices for cyclists.

While RideNow TPU inner tubes are lightweight and feature a TPU+metal composite valve with a detachable core design, they are not the lightest options available. In a recent deal, the Road inner tube weighs 36g per inner tube, and the Gravel inner tube weighs 45g per inner tube. However, they are more durable than regular butyl options and are currently priced at $23.98, a 20% discount from the original price of $29.98.

RideNow TPU inner tubes have found favour with competitors in hill climbs, saving up to 140g per wheel. They are available on Amazon and come in various valve stem lengths (45mm/65mm/85mm) and as a 2-Pack.
