Debut of the Polestar 5, a high-performance grand tourer, takes place in Munich
The Polestar 5, a testament to the brand's vision for the future of design, technology, and sustainability, was unveiled at a global motor show, emphasizing its role in electric grand touring.
Developed as the production realization of the Polestar Precept concept car, the Polestar 5 draws inspiration from aviation and aerodynamic principles, showcasing a sleek, sculpted, wing-like profile. German actor and filmmaker Matthias Schweighöfer, in a creative partnership with Polestar, contributed a cinematic perspective to the concept of mobility related to the Polestar 5. Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, also played a key role in presenting and defining the vehicle's vision.
Sustainability is a fundamental aspect of the Polestar 5, built into its design and engineering. The interior boasts a minimalist aesthetic, with clean surfaces and innovative materials. The all-electric four-door performance GT showcases the potential for performance and sustainability to coexist, as demonstrated by its engineering choices that focus on weight, efficiency, and performance, with an in-house developed aluminum platform.
The Polestar 5 was presented at the IAA Mobility in Munich, marking a significant moment as evidence that performance and sustainability no longer contradict each other. To further emphasize this, Polestar opened an Experience Lab in Munich, offering visitors an immersive experience of the future, with the Polestar 5 at its core. The Experience Lab, in contrast to traditional motor shows, features a stripped-back and minimalist design, combining installation and immersion, using light, sound, and scent to showcase the future.
Shana Claessens, a Belgian racing driver, reflected on the experience of driving a Polestar 4 at Circuit Zolder. Meanwhile, Sergio Marques finds home wherever his Polestar takes him, with experiences ranging from Northern Sweden to Portuguese vineyards.
Looking ahead, the Mille Miglia, scheduled for 2025, presents a unique race-cum-fashion event in Italy. The Polestar 5, with its blend of performance, sustainability, and innovative design, is undoubtedly a contender for the future of grand touring.
