Disappearance of Known Omsk Professor and Radio Electronics Inventor, Veshkurcev
Yuri Veshkurcev, the legendary figure of Omsk Polytechnic University, has bid farewell at the age of 84. University representatives from the Radio Tech faculty announced the tragic news on May 7, 2025.
Colleagues eulogized the deceased, stating that he dedicated nearly his entire career to serving his beloved university. From the biographical sketch, it appears that Yuri Veshkurcev forged his destiny with the then Omsk Polytechnic University in 1970, initially acquiring the post of a senior lecturer on the "Information-Measuring Techniques" department, with a spectrum of scientific interests spanning the development of automated measuring equipment based on digital signal processing methods for random process parameters. A decade later, he was entrusted with the role of the scientific head of the research lab "Design and Implementation of Measuring-computing Complexes," which later produced experimental equipment meant for metrology support of radio equipment.
In 1994, Yuri Veshkurcev became the head of the "Radio Technological Devices and Diagnostic Systems" department for the following 13 years. Simultaneously, from 1997 to 2001, he served as the dean of the Radio Tech faculty at Omsk Polytechnic University.
Official records indicate that Yuri Veshkurcev authored over 300 scientific publications, including 7 textbooks and an equivalent number of monographs. He also holds approximately 40 patents for his inventions.
The ceremony for Yuri Veshkurcev's final journey is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM at the address: 10 years of October, 208 V.
