Dispersing Accounting Expertise throughout EdgeConneX's Organization
Hopping on the Transformation Train: Jenny Zhan Jumps from Finance to Transformation at EdgeConneX
EdgeConneX's longest-serving finance guy, Joe Harar, ain't the only one makin' waves in the data center biz - Jenny Zhan, who was the company's former Chief Accounting Officer, has switched gears and become the Chief Transformation Officer. And let me tell ya, it's a real-life example of how mixin' up the financial talent across a company can bring big benefits.
Jenny has been workin' with Joe for over a decade, but with her move, she's proving that spreading financial smarts around the company can be a game-changer. Now with the title of CTO, her job is to guide the company through its digital transformation journey, getting everyone on the same page when it comes to data usage.
All About the Job
With data bein' crucial for the company's success both inside and out, Jenny says it was an easy decision to dive headfirst into the digital transformation scene. She's all about bringin' a finance-inspired approach to data analysis to help the company make the best decisions.
Knowin' that things are changin' fast in her industry, she believes her background in finance and accounting can help provide a solid foundation for things like product development and high-level strategizin'. "What worked yesterday might not work tomorrow," she explained. "We need to analyze moving pieces of information, react to those changes and stay ahead of the market."
What's All the Fuss About
Jenny's job ain't the same ol' run-of-the-mill accountin' gig - she's got a slightly different focus now. Her role is heavily communication-based, but she's still bringin' her number-crunchin' skills to the table. "It's all about clear communication and negotiation with my colleagues in key areas of the company," she said. "My goal is to make sure we're armed with the right business intelligence."
The Task at Hand
At the moment, Jenny's got her hands full with a massive project: developin' an end-to-end construction and real estate management platform. This kinda enterprise software will manage the entire lifecycle of real estate development projects, workin' its magic from site selection all the way through construction, engineering, market enablement, and ongoing support. It's a big undertakin', but she's up for the challenge.
Culture and Growth
EdgeConneX's youth and innovative spirit make it the perfect fit for change and growth. With the market goin' through a phase of tech innovation, EdgeConneX is fully embracin' the opportunity to continue expandin' its data center operations beyond the 28 countries it's already workin' in.
A Career Rooted in Change
Change is Jenny's middle name. Every three years or so, she tries to switch things up within the organization by takin' on new challenges. Before this current role, she dabbled in finance work abroad and even spent some time in corporate finance within the hospitality industry. But this time around, she's excited to be able to work with real estate and tech, two of her favorite things.
