The city of Solingen played host to the second Solingen E-Sport Convention, held at the Alte Maschinenhalle on the grounds of the Gründer- und Technologiezentrum. The event, which aimed to make E-Sport more visible and tangible, attracted a large crowd, with temporary overcrowding in the morning.

Mateusz Langner, a local figure, was among the valuable guests who spoke about gaming and E-Sport. Frank Balkenhol, CEO of the organizing Solingen Economic Development, stated that the convention was designed to awaken the interest of companies in this topic.

The focus of the convention was on reaching young people, particularly students from grades 8 to 10. While the search results do not provide the name of the school or gymnasium where these students and teachers participated, the event was successful in engaging the younger generation.

The convention provided a stage program with expert talks and lectures, giving attendees the opportunity to learn from industry professionals. Clubs Union Solingen and Union Velbert presented their successful E-Sport teams, offering insights into the competitive world of gaming.

In addition to the informative sessions, the convention featured various interactive activities. P1-Gaming brought two large simulators, allowing visitors to drive virtual races. There were 14 PlayStation 5 consoles available for players to compete in the football game "Fifa" (now EA Sports FC 24) in the "7 vs 7" mode. Peter Dübbert from the "Heiper Lan House" offered the opportunity to play "Rocket League".

Virtual worlds could be entered using VR glasses at several stands during the convention, providing a immersive gaming experience. Kai Waßong, for instance, presented his individually designed "Vision Controller".

The Bergische Krankenkasse and Bergische Universität were present with information offers, demonstrating the growing recognition of E-Sports as an opportunity. Companies' interest in E-Sports is expected to increase in the coming years, with the convention playing a significant role in fostering this growth.

Phil Derichs of Solingen.Business expressed satisfaction with the second E-Sports Convention, noting its success in engaging the younger generation and promoting the industry. Among the guests were Nicole Lange, Peter Lemcke, Prof. Dr. Fabian Ulrich, and Sebastian Knaup, further highlighting the event's importance in the E-Sport community.

The Solingen Economic Development started recognizing E-Sports as an opportunity eight years ago, and the second Solingen E-Sport Convention is a testament to their commitment to fostering the growth of this exciting industry.
