Huawei's Aito M8 EV Pre-Orders Reach 10,000 in 8 Hours

In an exciting development for the electric vehicle (EV) market, Huawei's joint automotive brand with Seres Group, Aito, has announced that the pre-sale of the Aito M8 EV has garnered over 10,000 orders within just 8 hours of its launch.

The Aito M8, a large SUV, was unveiled by Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) business on July 25, 2025. The M8 EV, a battery electric vehicle (BEV), is the latest addition to the Aito lineup, following the initial launch of the Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant in April 2025.

The M8 BEV, starting at RMB 378,000 (approximately $52,700 USD), is set for an official launch in August 2025. Customers who reserve the M8 BEV model by paying a RMB 5,000 deposit will receive a RMB 5,000 discount and a free purple exterior worth RMB 8,000.

The M8 BEV shares the large SUV platform and design language with the EREV variant but features subtle front bumper and grille design changes. It boasts advanced technologies such as a 192-line LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof, dual-lens headlights with auxiliary driving indicators, and offers both 5-seat and 6-seat configurations. The SUV has dimensions of 5,190 mm length, 1,999 mm width, and 1,795 mm height, with a 3,105 mm wheelbase. Wheel options include 21-inch blacked-out wheels with Pirelli tires or multi-spoke wheels.

The M8 BEV is expected to compete with electric SUVs like Onvo L90 and Li i8, aiming at the premium electric SUV segment. This rapid pre-order success underscores strong market interest in this Huawei-Seres collaboration, combining Huawei's technology expertise with Seres' automotive manufacturing capabilities to deliver a technologically advanced, large electric SUV in China’s competitive EV market.
