Google's AI-generated summaries have been a bone of contention for numerous users, as they often blur the lines between fact and fiction. Head of Tom's Hardware, Avram Piltch, has come up with a nifty solution - a Chrome extension to help users reclaim control of their Google searches.

The aptly named extension, Bye, Bye Google AI, does away with the divisive AI Overviews and other clutter from Google search results.

Unlike AI Overviews, which steer users towards additional Google content, this extension offers direct links, paving the way for a more productive search experience.

This easy-to-use tool supports Chrome, Edge, and any browser that works with Chrome extensions, including popular alternatives like Firefox.

The extension lets users not only hide AI Overviews but also filter out sections such as videos, text ads, and "People Also Ask." It caters to 19 languages, including Spanish, Mandarin, and Arabic.

For those who prefer to ignore AI-generated content altogether, adding "&udm=14" to the search URL provides access to the cleaner "web" tab.

On Desktop and Mobile

On desktop, Bye, Bye Google AI can be set as the default search method via Chrome's settings. For mobile users, tenbluelinks.org offers a custom search engine option that skips AI elements, albeit only on Android and desktop devices - not on Safari.
