Copy and Paste Made Easier with Batch Clipboard

Let's talk about copy and paste, a fundamental feature we all use daily, but it can be a headache, right? You copy something, and it goes… somewhere. Then, you can paste it. But, if you copy a second thing, the first one's gone! This is where clipboard managers come in handy.

Clipboard managers are applications that let you review everything you've copied recently. They work well, but they usually require a lot of context switching. What if you want to copy multiple things and paste them later, all in the order you copied them, without opening a clipboard manager and choosing the items in sequence?

Enter Batch Clipboard. This free, open-source Mac tool is your solution! It doesn't replace a clipboard manager, but it complements it perfectly. With Batch Clipboard running, you can copy text, images, or files using the keyboard shortcut Cmd-Control-C to start building a batch. Once you're ready, you can paste them, one at a time, starting from the beginning of the batch, using the keyboard shortcut Cmd-Control-V. You can check the current batch by clicking the menu bar icon.

It may take a moment to wrap your head around, but trust us, it's quite useful in specific situations. For example, let's say you're reading a document and want to collect a few quotes. You can copy each one to your batch and paste them all to your notes in sequence, taking time to add context as you go. This way, you can focus on reading without constantly switching back and forth between the source document and your notes.

Getting started is straightforward. After downloading the app, launch it, and you'll find a quick start guide that'll walk you through using the application, and it'll ask you to enable permissions. You can customize settings by clicking the menu bar icon and clicking "Settings." You can adjust keyboard shortcuts, decide whether the application starts with your computer, change the visible history items in the menu, and more. Additionally, you can choose for the application to ignore items copied from specific applications.

You could, theoretically, use Batch Clipboard as an alternative to a clipboard manager. Click the menu bar icon while holding the Option key, and you can review everything you copied recently. Or, use it alongside a dedicated clipboard manager, or just open it when you specifically want to use the batch copying feature. If clipboard managers have never quite clicked with you, give Batch Clipboard a shot! It's worth a try!

P.S. Although there isn't extensive information available about Batch Clipboard, we noted that clipboard management tools offer several benefits, such as history management, multi-buffer support, batch operations, organization, and customization. Some popular options on Mac include Copy 'Em and CleanClip. Enjoy your copy and paste adventures!
