Ethereum Foundation Forms Artificial Intelligence Squad, Signaling Key Focus Areas for the Network's Development
Ethereum Foundation Announces Dedicated AI Team
The Ethereum Foundation has taken a significant step forward in its mission to establish Ethereum as a leading platform for AI development. The Foundation has launched a new team, dubbed the dAI team, with a focus on making Ethereum the foundation of AI development.
Led by Ethereum core developer Davide Crapis, the dAI team will focus on fostering the development of AI systems within the crypto ecosystem and bringing top players in the off-chain AI industry onto the Ethereum network. Crapis views AI as Ethereum's next DeFi opportunity, attracting even centralized institutions in the future.
One of the key initiatives of the dAI team is the implementation of the ERC-8004 proposal. This proposal aims to create a standard for AI agents to seamlessly transact across the Ethereum ecosystem, making it easier for AI systems to interact and collaborate on the network. The ERC-8004 standard is set to debut at November's Devconnect conference.
The dAI team's mission is to make Ethereum the preferred settlement and coordination layer for AIs and the machine economy. To achieve this, the team will initially have two other full-time roles, which the Ethereum Foundation is currently hiring for.
In addition to this, the dAI team is engaged in research collaborations with major Silicon Valley companies. While the names of these companies have not been disclosed yet, they will be announced at a later date. The dAI team will also have ongoing partnerships with these organizations.
The Ethereum Foundation's investment in a full-time AI operation demonstrates its recognition that the sector will be key to its long-term sustainability. The long-term goal of the dAI team is to build decentralized AI infrastructure to prevent corporate monopolization in the AI sector.
Crapis emphasizes the need to make Ethereum's infrastructure usable for AI as well. He believes that AI is a significant part of Ethereum's future usage, and the launch of the dAI team is a crucial step towards this vision. The dAI team will focus on making Ethereum the foundation of AI development and bridging blockchain with AI industries.
