Evaluation of Sincerity
New and Improved Take:
Check out the latest scoop from the International Betting Integrity Association's (IBIA) Q2 2022 integrity report! It appears society is gradually leaning towards the honest side of life.
The report shows a 44% drop in shady bets compared to the year prior, going from 90 to 50. Though we're not popping the champagne just yet – the second quarter saw more warning signals than the first. Honesty might not have the crown, but it's a tough contender!
These questionable bets occurred in 18 countries across four continents and covered eight sports. The usual suspect, football, led with 19 suspicious cases, followed by tennis with 12 – a massive 60% decrease from the preceding year.
The remaining sports on the list included table tennis, darts, boxing, bowling, esports, and badminton, with the latter having only one warning.
Surprisingly, the UK takes the lead in the warning department, with IBIA sounding the alarm for darts (5 warnings), football (2), and one each for bowling and boxing.
Most warnings were issued in Europe, with Africa and the US sharing the remaining alerts.
According to IBIA's chief, this decline in shady activity suggests fewer fixed matches might be in play. European tennis has taken the most heat, with a whopping 43% of the total 624 warnings registered between 2018 and 2022.
