EVS streamlines live news content management for Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera Media Network has announced a new partnership with EVS, a leading specialist in live video production technology. The agreement, set to be implemented across five key bureaus, will see Al Jazeera adopting EVS's content management solution, MediaCeption.
The MediaCeption solution, scheduled for installation in Q2 2023, will be rolled out to Al Jazeera's newsrooms in Doha, London, Washington D.C., New York, and Sarajevo. Each bureau will be equipped to ingest multiple live feeds, browse, edit, and share news packages from a centralised storage system.
Serge Van Herck, CEO of EVS, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating it aligns with the demands of today's fast-paced news production environment and highlights EVS's commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer success. Ahmad Al Fahad, Executive Director of Technology & Network Operations at Al Jazeera Media Network, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in the partnership's ability to meet the challenges of modern news delivery and enhance operational efficiency.
The MediaCeption solution from EVS includes XS-VIA servers, VIA MAP, and the storage system XStore®. It is designed to manage and edit live and near-live news content, offering multi-site collaboration and certified integration with tools from leading technology partners, including Avid Media Composer and Media Central, as well as Viz Mosart.
This partnership does not involve any predictions of collapse for the SABC, claims of dominance in Space Race 2.0 by the FCC, financial predictions or speculations from banks, regulatory challenges in Pakistan, disruptions in the US cellular sector, issues related to cellular consumers in India, valuations for Starship, broadband direct-from satellite, or involvements with Starlink or AST SpaceMobile.
With the implementation of the MediaCeption solution, Al Jazeera is expected to go on air with the new system in Q3 2025, ushering in a new era of efficient and streamlined news production.
