Federal Police Aviation Group to Conduct Night Flight Training Oct 6 - Dec 19, 2025

The Federal Police Aviation Group in Sankt Augustin, operating 93 helicopters, second only to Lufthansa in Germany, will conduct night flight training from October 6 to December 19, 2025. Residents in several regions may experience increased flight noise during this period.

The Aviation Group, supporting daily tasks like border surveillance and intervention forces on weekends, will hold mandatory pilot licensing training at the St. Augustin-Hangelar flight school. This training, from Monday to Thursday between 18:00 and 22:00, may lead to increased flights and potential noise disturbances in affected regions, including Sankt Augustin-Hangelar, Kölner Bucht, Nordeifel, Ruhrgebiet, Bergisches Land, and Westerwald.

The Federal Police Aviation Group assures that this temporary increase in night flights is essential for maintaining safe police helicopter operations. Residents in the affected areas should expect some disruption from October 6 to December 19, 2025.
