Westconnect, a telecommunications infrastructure company, has successfully completed a significant fiber optic network expansion throughout the Lippetal districts. This project aimed to enhance internet connectivity and digital communications infrastructure in both urban and rural areas of Lippetal.

The expansion involved installing new fiber optic cables to key towns and villages, upgrading existing network nodes to support higher data bandwidth, and integrating the network with regional and national fiber backbone networks. Collaboration with local authorities and utilities ensured minimal disruption during the deployment process.
Timeline
The project commenced in early 2023 with initial surveying, planning, and permit acquisition. Construction began mid-2023 and continued until Q2 2025, with testing and final adjustments. The project was completed in July 2025, marking full operational readiness and service availability.

The fiber optic expansion was carried out in three districts: Lippetal Herzfeld, Lippborg, and Oestinghausen. Westnetz executed the project on behalf of Westconnect GmbH. E.ON Energie Deutschland, under the brand "E.ON Highspeed", handles the customer approach and sale of fiber optic products in the expansion area.
Westconnect Regional Manager Heiko Grebe expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the expansion work in Lippetal, wishing the residents and businesses much joy with the high-performance internet. The infrastructure project took 28 months to complete, and all fiber optic connections will be completed within the next few weeks.
