Five 2026 Model Y vehicles by Tesla are being recalled due to a potential issue with the vehicle's horn.

In a recent announcement, Tesla has issued a safety recall for five 2026 Model Y vehicles due to a manufacturing issue that could render the horn inoperable. The issue was first identified during an end-of-line inspection at Giga Texas on July 9, 2025.

The problem stems from a loose horn ground wire that may not have been properly secured, allowing the circuit to open and disable the horn. This recall was initiated after Tesla identified the issue during end-of-line inspection and confirmed five vehicles with this defect through a production review. Further investigation revealed this issue during a review of production and service records with Yanfeng International Automotive Technology.

Unlike most Tesla recalls, this one requires a physical service instead of a simple over-the-air software update. Tesla will inspect the horn ground wire on all affected vehicles and, if necessary, repair it at no cost to the owners by physically securing the wire properly. Service technicians will verify the integrity of the horn ground wire and secure it to proper specification if necessary.

The correction was made through enhanced fastener height inspections and retraining of assembly line operators on proper harness routing. No crashes or injuries have been reported in connection with this defect. Two related warranty claims were discovered, but no fatalities have been reported.

Transport Canada will not be issuing a similar recall as no vehicles from Giga Texas have been imported into Canada. Tesla has corrected the manufacturing issue affecting the horn of 2026 Model Y vehicles in production, as of July 14, 2025.
