Foxconn's secret blueprint allegedly stolen and exposed

Foxconn, the tech giant known for its electronics manufacturing, is venturing into a new frontier - the automotive industry. Its division, Foxtron, is making waves with its innovative approach to car manufacturing, using the MIH platform to open-source the process.

Developed in collaboration with Yulong Motors, the same company that owns Luxgen, the MIH platform is an open-source hardware and software system designed for electric vehicle (EV) development. It aims to attract automotive clients by leveraging Foxconn's manufacturing expertise in the rapidly growing sector.

The MIH platform emphasizes collaboration and innovation, positioning Foxconn as a key player in next-generation automotive manufacturing. The company is offering Commissioned Design and Manufacturing Services (CDMS) through Foxtron, positioning itself as a Tier 1 supplier of complete vehicles, not just components.

Recent developments suggest that Foxconn is well on its way to becoming a significant player in the auto industry. The company has already unveiled a prototype vehicle, though details about its design remain scarce. Spy shots of the prototype indicate progress in Foxtron's development.

On October 18, Foxtron is scheduled to officially unveil its latest EV developments under the MIH platform. While the exact models or detailed designs set for that date remain unclear, the event is expected to showcase Foxtron's latest EV developments, potentially including new designs emerging from recent collaborations such as those with Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Foxconn's strategy is not limited to phones and consoles. With the development of cars under the brand Foxtron, it appears that we are 2/3rds of the way to potentially using Foxconn products for communication, gaming, and driving.

The prototype vehicle features a sporty shooting-brake design, large Foxtron lettering in the intake, a front lightbar, and large rims. Despite the lack of further photos, the prototype's design hints at the potential for an exciting and innovative future for Foxconn in the automotive industry.

As Foxconn continues to expand its horizons, it joins other tech companies showing interest in the car industry, following moves by Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, and Samsung. With the MIH platform, Foxconn is positioning itself as a leader in the open-source EV manufacturing movement, fostering a collaborative ecosystem that could revolutionise the automotive industry.
