Funding of $150 Million Secured for Care Healthcare Foundation's Model

In the realm of healthcare, a significant advancement is underway as Aidoc, a pioneering company in clinical AI, unveils its Healthcare Foundation Model, CARE. This new model is poised to revolutionise clinical decision-making and reduce diagnostic errors, with a vision to touch the core of a physician's work.

Michael Braginsky, Co-founder and CTO of Aidoc, and Elad Walach, CEO of Aidoc, are at the helm of this transformation. They are joined by Roxanna Gapstur, President and CEO of WellSpan Health, who shares a deep responsibility and belief in scaling clinical AI. Gapstur envisions foundation models becoming as ubiquitous in healthcare as ChatGPT is in general use.

Aidoc's collaboration with Hartford HealthCare and WellSpan Health demonstrates their commitment to improving patient outcomes and staying at the forefront of tech-powered healthcare transformation. This collaboration has already shown remarkable results, with Aidoc's technology helping Hartford HealthCare radiologists analyze over 200,000 cases in one year.

The funding for CARE, led by General Catalyst and Square Peg, brings Aidoc's total to $370 million. With this investment, Aidoc plans to invest over $150 million to bring CARE to market.

CARE's impact lies in its scope and integration. The model is designed to cover 90% of clinically relevant diseases, including rib fractures, aortic dissections, cancer, and cardiovascular conditions. By automating complex diagnostic tasks and enhancing physician decision support, CARE addresses major challenges like diagnostic errors and physician shortages, enabling faster and more accurate medical decisions at the point of care.

The aiOS platform, Aidoc's enterprise AI platform, complements CARE by allowing healthcare systems to deploy, orchestrate, and govern multiple AI models—both Aidoc’s and third-party—within existing clinical workflows. This seamless integration reduces workflow fragmentation, surfaces high-impact clinical insights, and accelerates care decisions, as validated in over 180 clinical studies and deployed at more than 150 medical centers analyzing millions of patients monthly.

The combination of CARE’s broad, pre-trained foundation model and aiOS’s scalable AI management represents a new paradigm in clinical decision support. It moves beyond traditional rule-based systems to data-driven, AI-augmented workflows that improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce errors, and help clinicians focus on critical findings without alert fatigue.

CARE-powered solutions have received FDA clearance and are currently serving over 45 million patients across more than 150 health systems, with a goal of reaching 100 million patients within three years. The Hartford HealthCare Center for AI Innovation in Healthcare is committed to advancing AI in a safe, scalable, and thoughtful way. With its mission to reduce diagnostic errors and enhance patient outcomes, Aidoc's CARE model is set to be a transformative tool for healthcare decision-making worldwide.
