Garmin elucidates the types of data it transmits to Google Health Connect; a detailed rundown is provided below.

In a recent development, Garmin Connect, the fitness tracking app from the renowned tech company, has expanded its data sharing capabilities with Google Health Connect. This new integration goes beyond one-time workout data, encompassing various wellness parameters.

The latest update to Garmin Connect will share selected wellness data, such as body fat percentage, pedal cadence, swimming strokes, and other wellness metrics, with Google Health Connect. However, it's important to note that certain specific fitness metrics will not be shared, including training load, aerobic/anaerobic training effect, intensity minutes, running tolerance, endurance score, and HRV status. Additionally, running power, cadence, and sweat loss data from workouts will remain private.

Garmin has historically maintained a policy of avoiding the integration of external apps' data, and this new update is no exception. The data sharing with Google Health Connect will be a one-way transfer, with Garmin not accepting data back from Google. This approach aligns with Garmin's commitment to privacy and proprietary data.

The integration with Google Health Connect will allow users to have a more comprehensive view of their health and fitness data. However, it's worth noting that not all data will be shared. For instance, body fat percentage, floors climbed, sleep data, or weight will not be shared with Google Health Connect.

In a surprising turn of events, the update initially scheduled for the end of June has been delayed. No information regarding the rescheduling of the update has been made available as of yet.
