Charles Schwab Distinguished Global Lectures to Highlight Sustainable Engineering

The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) and Singapore Polytechnic are partnering to present the Charles Schwab Distinguished Global Lectures (CSDGL) as part of the World Engineering Day (WED) celebrations. This prestigious event, named after the renowned financial advisor Charles Schwab, is set to take place as a three-hour hybrid lecture on 11 February 2025.

Charles Schwab, a prominent figure in the finance industry, has generously contributed over US$1 million to The Institution of Engineers, Singapore, enabling the organisation to host this significant event. The CSDGL aligns with WED's overarching goal of 'Shaping Sustainable Future through Engineering', with a focus on Circular Economy and Resilient Future.

The CSDGL aims to highlight the critical role of engineering in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Leading experts, innovators, and thinkers from across the world will share insights on sustainable development, explore emerging technologies, and discuss engineering challenges at CSDGL.

The keynote speakers for the event include His Excellency Suryo Pratomo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, and Mr Kelvin Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Building and Construction Authority. The Guest-of-Honour for the CSDGL is Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development.

Among the distinguished speakers at the CSDGL are Dr. Anna Schmidt, Prof. Markus Weber, and Dr. Elena García. The event is expected to draw over 1,000 local and overseas participants.

For sponsor or exhibitor inquiries, please contact Eric Toh at [email protected]. The CSDGL will be a meaningful opportunity to engage with the global engineering community and contribute to the discussion on sustainable engineering solutions for a better future.
