Google Brings AI Mode to Indian Users for Enhanced Search
Google has expanded its AI mode, a conversational search tool, to Indian users. This comes after successful testing in the US. The feature allows users to ask complex questions and follow-ups, similar to AI assistants like ChatGPT.
India, with its vast internet user base of over 870 million, serves as a crucial market for Google's product innovations. The company has introduced AI mode here via Search Labs, enabling users to opt-in for English queries.
AI mode functions as a Q&A-style search tool, supporting voice and image search, which are popular in India. It's powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5 and handles queries that are two to three times longer than typical searches. Google has not yet specified when local language support will be available.
Following a successful launch at Google IO, AI mode is now rolling out to all US users. In India, users can access it via Search Labs for English queries. Google aims to provide an alternative to conversational AI tools like ChatGPT, adapting to users' preferences.
