Google Unveils Two Versions of Upgraded Gemini 2.5 Processor for Advanced Cognitive Computing

This multi-agent reasoning system, part of the Gemini 2.5 series, was unveiled at Google's I/O conference in May.

Initially, Deep Think was exclusively available to Google AI Ultra subscribers via the Gemini app. While it reaches a bronze-level performance on the IMO benchmark internally, it offers an accessible, faster version suitable for day-to-day use. A more powerful, slower variant, capable of taking hours to reason, has been shared with a select group of mathematicians and academics to support research efforts.
Google aims to gather feedback from these expert users to refine Deep Think further for academic and enterprise use, reflecting a strategic move to push the frontier of human knowledge.
Deep Think is distinguished from other Gemini AI models such as Gemini 2.5 Pro, which focuses on advanced reasoning, math, coding, and deep research capabilities but operates with a single-agent architecture optimized for speed and broad assistance in AI Mode on Google Search. Gemini 2.5 Pro is available to both AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, providing thorough responses for complex queries, and integrates tools like Deep Search for in-depth research.
The Gemini AI lineup also includes Gemini 2.5 Flash and the Gemini SDK. The latter provides compatibility with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to let agents use a variety of tools.
